Sport Yarn

Sport weight yarns are very popular among both knitters and crocheters as an all-round versatile weight with many uses. Available in a large range of fibre blends Sport weight wools are used to create just about anything you can imagine! Thanks to the ever-growing demand for Sport weight yarns there are many exciting modern ranges of self-patterning, hand-dyed effect and speckled colourways, as well as classic solid, semi-solid or tonal shades.

Also a firm favourite for creating Fair Isle and Intarsia, Sport weight is finer than Dk but thicker than Fingering (4 ply) yarns and works up into small, neat stiches providing the level of intricacy needed to achieve impressive colour patterns.

Standard Sport knitting wools and yarns are usually knitted on a 3.25mm or 3.50mm needle but always check the pattern or yarn instructions as this will vary dependent on stitch pattern used, style of garment and also the density of fabric required.
