Mohair Yarn

Mohair yarn is one of the oldest textures fibers in use and extremely popular with loyal knitters for making anything from lovely warm scarves and shawls to soft furnishings. It is produced from the hair of the Angora goat which makes it a versatile natural fibre.  

Mohair is a wonderful all-year-rounder as it’s warm in winter yet cool in summer. It is durable with a natural elasticity, and takes dye well, as you’ll see from our wonderful selection of colors and designs. Working with mohair wool

Although not generally as soft as cashmere or alpaca Mohair yarn is best known by knitters worldwide for its sheen and the halo appearance its fluffiness can give to garments.

Novice knitters, however, may struggle with the particularly fluffy varieties so we have selected a collection smoother yarns that are easier to use; for example, try the DROPS Kid Silk range or Rowan's Kidsilk Haze. For pattern inspiration, scroll to the bottom of each yarn range page.
